Weekly Status:

Our group is slightly behind schedule, but we have been working through a major obstacle that has come up in the implementation of our project.  This obstacle has been how to extract time reference information from the header of a digital video datagram.  Fortunately this past week our group has put in a lot of time and effort and it seems that we have a solution to our problem.  We were able to find an open source code program that appears to be capable of extracting the reference information that we need to precede with our project.  We have located the program, obtained a copy of it from the Internet, and are now in the process of acquiring the needed hardware so that we can test whether this software program solves the problem we are trying to work through.  If this is successful we will be back on track with our proposed timeline, and well on our way with this project.  If we are unsuccessful will we have a major setback and will need to continue to redesign and refine our design implementation.  Our group has devised a few alternate solutions in case our proposed solution does not work, but they too will require extra time and resources we did not originally account for.
Our group has also worked through the issue of how to record the live streaming digital video image directly to a computer’s hard drive.  Through using an existing product, Windows Movie Maker software, we should be able to record the live stream directly to the PC’s hard drive.  Again we are awaiting hardware so that we can try our solution and see if it serves the needed design purpose.

For documentation and information purposes our group has begun work on the ITS-Image Tracking System Senior Design Website.  We anticipate in the next week that we will be able to upload at least a partially complete website and we will post our project Abstract along with other useful project information.
