Weekly Status:

Our group is slightly behind schedule, we are now awaiting the arrival of purchased hardware which will allow the group to test our proposed design solution for the extraction of streaming video and header information from the digital camera to the laptop. Because we must wait till we have this hardware to do anymore of the design work, this week our group focused on the less technical aspects of our project.

This week a large amount of time was devoted to 421-Eng Economics.  Our group had to create a detailed project report consisting of business plan information, outlining our intended customer base, intended product line and services that are to be offered, and pricing issues.  We had to fully develop who are target market set was, find the number of potential buyers, then take a percentage of those buyers in all markets and find the total number of units of software, services, and add on modules which our business could sell over a ten year period.  We then had to use the SEED model to estimate or revenue, approximate or total costs and overhead, and find how profitable our business could be if we successfully implement our design project.  This report will later be included in the final report for senior design since it contains critical financial information that is very important part of a new product design.

On the technical end, this week two of the group members continued to research MPEG 1 format header information and streaming video information so that we are better prepared for our design testing next week when the required hardware arrives.
