This week our team has continued the implementation phase of ITS-Image Tracking System, software application.   Our group is continuing to work on learning how to program in visual basic, how to utilize commercial or shareware media players via visual basic scripting, and how to incorporate a MS Access database with a Visual Basic Program.   This past week we have spent a great deal of time isolating the key components of this project which we need to implement in order to have, at a minimum, a working prototype of our project for May.  It has been decided that the group need to focus on the software application, including database and playback capabilities to show our project’s true scope and potential.  We will have to push off many of the “extra” features which would add value to the final product, but do not hold much weight in terms of the project’s overall technical merit.

Currently our team has been able to successfully record and encode streaming video from the digital video camera, which was our first obstacle.  We are now in process of building and debugging a prototype application that can link this video to our “statistical database” that stores all of the programs critical information.   This application is also going to utilize “key-stoke” programming techniques to capture the statisticians’ input and have full media playback capability.
