Weekly Status:

Our group is still slightly behind schedule.  We just found in this past week a competitor in this field who has software that is very similar to the product we are trying to create.  We requested from them a trial of their software and we are now in the stages of analyzing it for design considerations.  We are researching its features, capabilities, and comparing our original design to this current product that is available from an Italian company.  We may have to make design changes, and add features to our original design concept in order to create an overall “better” package.  This information and analysis will prove vital in our final project design, and will allow us to create an improved product that is superior to anything else that is currently on the market. Our group plans to match and surpass this product’s features.

Also this week, after much analysis, have decided to use Windvr as the software program that is going to be used to extract the streaming video from the digital video camera.   This software is capable of encoding the stream in MPEG-1 format and saves it directly to a computer’s hard-drive.  This is essential since sporting events are longer in time than any current digital video tape can record so we had to find a way to bypass using the video tape, and save information directly to a hard disk.

Our group is going to continue doing research and analysis, and further refine our project design.
