Report Title: Motion Track / Object Recognition

Project Status as of April 27th 2003
  • Finished writing program for motion tracking
  • Poster presentation finished
  • Minor debugging left for presentation

Project Status as of April 21th 2003
  • Wrote a program that will capture the image and determine whether there is a moving object within the camera's viewing area
  • Wrote a pan/tilt interface program but still improving on this

  • Worked on capturing images in Visual Basic but give up because it was too slow and had problems trying to use pointers
  • Started working on capturing images and taking still shots in Visual C++
  • Continued working on image processing

  • Began work on capturing image and taking snapshots
  • Elementary image processing performed on snapshots
  • Program written in Visual Basic, but may be converted to Visual C++ due to speed issues.
  • For now, both languages (VB/VC++) are being developed concurrently to check out our different options.

  • Continued work on the pan/tilt interface program.
  • We are still looking for a capture card but we have one that we are using temperately.

  • Met with Prof. Man to discuss camera to be used on our project and agreed on Sony EVI-D30.
  • We are still searching for a capture card.
  • We bought a camera, pan/tilt device. Tested them to make sure they work.
  • Wrote a basic program to control the pan/tilt device.

Project Status as of February 9th 2003
  • Met with Prof. Hong Man to decide on the camera to use (Sony EVI-D30) and currently we are trying to purchase it on www.ebay.com for price reasons.
  • Looking for and bidding on auctions for the camera.

  • Inquired about budgeting.
  • Our next step is to secure a camera and pan/tilt device.
  • Started basic tracking algorithm.
