The Chiron Project

How could your project be extended/improved in the future?
Our project focuses on the concept of a wireless sensory analyzer. This project can be both extended and improved for a medical application such as a biofeedback application. It can be expanded to take readings from different sensors that monitor, for example, heart rate, body angles, etc. and relay this data back to a unit that can analyze the data. This can be used in such areas as physical therapy so that the patient will not have to be connected to machines in a doctor's office all the time but rather move about freely and have the data recorded for later analysis. Also, for security, encryption can be used to protect the unit from being hacked/scanned. The consideration of using Bluetooth for the wireless transmission as opposed to an RF signal can also be addressed.

Are there any new project ideas that we came up with (even if entirely different from our current project)?
An idea that was born during the course of this current project relates to a growing trend in mobile technology. As more people like to make their forms of entertainment mobile, whether it be the radio or portable audio, one area that is starting to develop is mobile satellite television. It is somewhat currently available but has many problems due to the fact that the point of reception (the vehicle) is constantly moving. We considered looking in to this area as a project as well. One of the ideas to that came up was to incorporate some form of a portable digital recorder so that you can record whatever it is you are watching.

Can we provide a list (links/contacts) of the valuable sources we have received support from (vendors/donations/tech support) and how they helped us?

Any other information that will help future SD students when deciding and working on their own projects.

When choosing a project to embark on, make sure that it is feasable practically as well as chronologically. Do extensive research in to the subject matter. Create a detailed schedule and make sure you stick to it. When choosing an advisor make sure the professor that you select is one that is knowledgable in most aspects of the project that you are working on. Failure to do so will result in conflicts as well as delays in getting things done by their designated deadlines.
