Weekly status:

Include discussion of what you accomplished this week, who you contacted, what decisions were made, what obstacles were identified, how they are being addressed.

This week was mostly a continuation of last week:

·        We recognized that we have to brush up on our C++ skills.  It’s been a while since we have had to program, so each member of the team is reviewing and brushing up on C++.

·        We are continuing our work on the simulation of Aloha.  We currently have a code for Aloha, but we haven’t been able to simulate it.  The program doesn’t run.  We are going to analyze the code again to see if we can find the problem.  If we continue having problems, we will ask Prof. Tureli for help at our next meeting, which we are planning to schedule for this upcoming week.

·        At the same time, we are continuing our thorough research of Aloha and other random access methods that have followed.  In addition, Tureli has provided us with a textbook that gives some real great in-depth material on Aloha.  Each member is taking a turn at reading the appropriate chapters in the textbook.

·        This week we had a good discussion about the group website.  We made design decisions as to layout, background, information and we are beginning to set up the website.

·        Another decision we have to make is regarding the NYU Proposal.  Its due date is November 1.  However, looking at our budget, it appears that our expenses won’t be that great.  Prof. Tureli has informed us that he has all of the hardware that we need for the testing phase of our project.  Therefore, we have to make a decision as to whether or not we are proceeding with the NYU Proposal.  So far, the consensus is that it wouldn’t hurt to apply for it just in case we do need the funds.

As a whole, this has been a good week.  The main concern is to get the simulation working so that we can move on to the next phase of our project.
