Weekly status:

Include discussion of what you accomplished this week, who you contacted, what decisions were made, what obstacles were identified, how they are being addressed.

This week completed the fourth full week we have been working on our Senior Design Project.  This week:

·        We had a group meeting, where we discussed our progress, the project proposal, important research found, great background information given to us by Prof. Tureli, our team work, and future steps to be taken in our project.

·        We had an important decision to face.  One of our team members decided that he was no longer interested in our project and wanted to leave to join another team.  We had no idea he felt this way and it was a complete shock to all of us.  However, fortunately, since we are pretty much in the beginning phases of our project, we have all been working together on almost all tasks.  No one has yet been given individual assignments.  At this moment, the main focus is really to understand aloha and to do as much research on it as possible so that we can correctly simulate it.  Therefore, the departure of this teammate has not hindered our progress.  We will assign future tasks accordingly.

·        In our group meeting we also discussed the project proposal.  We discussed the most important aspect of the report and who will address each question.  In the end, we will all meet and put the entire report together, keeping in constant communication throughout the whole process.  This report will also help us in preparing for the NYU proposal.

·        One of our team members found some really helpful background material on our topic.  In our meeting we discussed this information and agreed to read it more in-depth for future discussion.  Prof. Tureli also sent us a great research paper of his, which we are all reading into as well.

·        We still haven't succeeded in creating a simulation of aloha, but we understand that that takes time and in order to actually succeed we need to fully understand the process.  So, we are in a major studying phase of the random access protocol and, all and all, we feel the project is still on time and not falling behind.  As soon as we make substantial progress in that area, we will have another meeting with Prof. Tureli so that he can assist us in the next phase of Aloha.
